Ana María Ibáñez in Project Syndicate: Rethinking Inequality in Latin America

In a recent article published in Project Syndicate, Ana María Ibáñez, LACIR Panel Member and Vice President for Sectors and Knowledge at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), discusses how, despite significant progress in education and social programs, inequality has remained high in Latin America. Critically examining traditional mitigation strategies, Ana María calls for a paradigm shift involving economic growth conducive to more productive (and formal) jobs and innovative fiscal policies that ensure inclusivity.

This commentary is published in collaboration with the International Economic Association’s Women in Leadership in Economics Initiative, which aims to enhance the role of women in economics through research, building partnerships, and amplifying voices.
