Julián Messina

Julián Messina is a Professor at Universidad de Alicante in Spain and a research affiliate of IZA. Prior to joining Universidad de Alicante, he worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the World Bank, and the European Central Bank, and he taught at several universities. His research interests include labor economics, inequality, and the economics of education.

He has written several books and Flagship reports of the World Bank and IDB for Latin America. His research has been published in top academic journals and is often featured in the media. He has extensive experience advising governments in Latin America, Europe and Asia. Dr. Messina obtained his PhD. in Economics at the European University Institute in 2002.
